Seeds of Stewardship

Chollas Creek

Groundwork San Diego-Chollas Creek partnered with the Urban Corps of San Diego in a major clean-up of the Creek from National Avenue to Southcrest Park. The work was so well-recievd by the community that a follow-up grant was provided by the Southern California Wetlands Recovery Project. Through this effort, and with the help of NASSCO and SDG&E, large non-native trees and vegetation were cleared, as well as tons of renegade trash. The area was re-planted with over 1000 native plants and trees, restoring this segment of Chollas Creek to its native state. Working with community volunteers, the project will be maintained in perpetuity by Groundwork San Diego-Chollas Creek.
