The Student Stream Team
Engagement of Chollas Creek students is one of Groundwork San Diego-Chollas Creek’s highest priorities. Only with the help and stewardship of these young people will the vision for a healthy thriving Chollas Creek be realized. Southeastern Economic Development Corporation, Union Bank of California, Urban Corps of San Diego, and the Jacobs Center for Innovation are among the organizations who have made this work possible. The Student Stream Team is a program through which 4th–8th grade students engage in habitat-based environmental education. While learning about the many natural resources which abound in their communities, they also learn how they, and their families, can protect and conserve those resources. Over 400 students a year participate in during and after school programs. Correlated to California Department of Education standards, the curriculum not only helps students meet their academic goals, but also to experience the joy of giving back to their community.
